Let’s look at the best, cheapest cars in Australia

When it comes to any awards ceremony, whether it’s the Grammys or the Oscars, there’s always going to be debate about whether the winners are truly deserving (sorry not sorry, Taylor Swift). However, sometimes awards ceremonies can give you some pretty valuable information.

Take the Australian Automobile Association (AAA), for instance. It recently announced the winners of its 2015 Best Cars awards, lining vehicles up against each other based on factors like design, value and performance. It also handily broke it down into budget categories – useful for anyone wanting to plan out a novated lease. So what is up on the car-sized podium?

Which cars won out in the AAA's recent awards?Which cars won out in the AAA’s recent awards?

Working on a budget

As of the 2015 Motor Vehicle Census from the Australian Bureau of Statistics, there were more than 13.5 million passenger vehicles in Australia. But how do you identify the best? According to the AAA, there were two clear winners last year when it comes to small cars.

The Hyundai i30 Active was named the best smaller car under $35,000, while for vehicles priced above this, the BMW 118i Sport Line was the best option.

When it comes to medium cars below $50,000, the winner was the Kia Optima GT, while above this price point was the Mercedes-Benz C 200. Finally, the Hyundai Genesis won the award for best large car under $70,000.

When you’re trying to make a novated lease work on a budget, these could be some options to look at. The ability to bundle all the costs into easy pre-tax payments saves you a lot of time and money, which could get you access to some of the higher-end award winners of 2015.
