Rally monsters or road cars?

Petrol heads everywhere love the feel of a turbocharger kicking in – particularly in a manual car. The feeling is even better if you know you have absolute control over the car, and with the two options below, you do.

To get behind the wheel of one of these incredible machines (that both have a storied past), Alliance Leasing can help you with a novated lease.

Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution

The Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution was born in 1993 with the Version I, and it has progressed ever since. Classic styling that is still sought after was a major feature, as was all-wheel-drive and a hefty turbocharger.

Just two years later, the Version III came with enhanced aerodynamics, a better turbo delivery system and, of course, a bigger spoiler.

The Version VIII is potentially the most iconic release, with the body shape and performance still used as a benchmark for other cars. This model came with an FQ-400 edition, which had a 0 to 100 kph time of just 3.5 seconds. That's supercar-quick.

More recently, the Evo was discontinued after 10 models. Drivers in the top echelon of rallying witnessed the splendour of this car four years in a row (1996-1999) when Tommi Makinen won the Driver's World Championship behind the wheel.

Subaru WRX STI

The Subaru WRX STI is iconic. It helped Colin McRae to multiple race wins and is easily recognisable with one of the more obvious colour schemes in professional motorsport.

The first WRX STI was produced in 1994 as a tuned version of the standard WRX from the factory. It was fast and loud and, of course, all-wheel-drive.

In 2004, the WRX STI was introduced on a more global scale and had a bigger engine (2.5 litres), bigger wheels (17-inch) and a wider stance and body. This is one of the most famous body styles in rallying history, and the WRX STI overall has won three Driver's World Championship titles (Colin McRae in 1995; Richard Burns in 2001; Petter Solberg in 2003).

The later models of this historic car are still being produced, and while they're a far cry from the original styling, you can rip around the streets, or even a dirt track, in significantly more comfortable seats.

If it's always been your dream to drive one of these rally monsters out of your garage and around the streets, then a novated lease can make it happen.
